Membership Requirements
Committee membership shall include key community partners and stakeholders in the delivery of hate-bias crimes and incidents prevention, education and response. Membership shall be representative of a broad spectrum of interests and expertise; however, it requires members to have solid knowledge of hate crimes and hate crime legislation in Canada. This is a working committee and not solely an advisory committee; members are expected to participate in sub-committees to complete various tasks. Members are also expected to provide and respond to requests for feedback and promote the work of the committee. Membership commitment and complement to be reviewed annually.Â
Committee Procedure
Committee members understand that topics discussed may be of a sensitive nature. As such, they voluntarily agree: (1) to refrain from disclosing confidential information as defined by the Freedom of Information and Protection Act; (2) to use information for purposes consistent with the intent or goals of the StopHateAB; (3) not to divulge confidential or sensitive information to the media unless authorized to do so by the committee as a whole; and (4) must seek committee permission to provide any workshops on behalf of the StopHateAB.Â
